Foundation Members

At a time when the climate change debate was firing up, leaders from within our community joined forces and pledged to establish Newcastle, the Hunter and Central Coast as Australia’s most energy and water efficient region.

Launched in April 2007, the TogetherTODAY initiative is all about showing people how to use energy and water more efficiently in their homes, at work and at school. Energy and water are precious resources and by becoming smarter in how we use them we can save money and help the environment at the same time.

The TogetherTODAY Foundation Members built on the strength of the Solar Cities bid process and despite missing out on the $15million from the federal government the key partners knew they had a winning formula and decided to push full steam ahead.

The Foundation Members, from across our entire community include Newcastle City Council, NBN, one80 digitalpost, Coal & Allied managed by Rio Tinto Coal Australia, Macquarie Generation, EnergyAustralia, CSIRO, Hunter Water, Port Waratah Coal Services, University of Newcastle, NSW Department of Education and Training, TAFE NSW Hunter-Institute and the Catholic Schools Office, Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.

The role of the Foundation Members is to steer TogetherTODAY to inform and educate the wider community about better ways to save and use our valuable resources, while supporting the research and development of leading energy and water saving initiatives
